Local architect Quentin Desfarges has designed the Timber Nest, which is a timber mountain cabin located near the southern Norwegian town of Rødberg. It is defined by its porthole-style windows and rests on top of a sloped forest site that overlooks the serene mountains at the Hardangervidda National Park. The simple cabin is built to be compatible with its landscape as well.

Desfarges explained to Dezeen, “Timber Nest does not merely occupy its site; it coexists with it. Every decision was made to preserve the existing vegetation on the site, allowing the surrounding birch forest to remain undisturbed. Crafted entirely from wood, the cabin embraces time-honoured Nordic building traditions while celebrating the tactile beauty of exposed timber.”
