Brad Pitt’s ‘The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth’ Faces Rejection Before Streaming Release on Netflix

Brad Pitt’s The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth is facing rejection for its theatrical release. The film is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. However, before its release on Netflix, the movie was set to receive a brief theatrical run.

This was an impressive effort by the streaming platform to bring the film to theaters, including IMAX screens, before making it available on the platform. However, despite the growing hype surrounding the film, it has faced unexpected rejection from several theater chains.

The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth will not premiere at Regal and Cinemark

Regal Cinemas has reportedly refused to feature The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth on its IMAX screens. The theater chain has explained its decision in a statement from Brooks LeBoeuf, Senior Vice President of U.S. Content. They claimed that the company allocates films to its IMAX screens based on the level of commitment shown by distributors to theatrical release.

“Shortened theatrical windows have a direct impact on those decisions, as they limit the opportunity for audiences to experience films on the big screen. We will continue to prioritize releases that recognize the value of theatrical exclusivity, including ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping,’ which will have our full support in IMAX,’’ the comment read (via Variety).

Not just Regal Cinemas, but Cinemark is also among the theater chains that have reportedly refused to screen the film in IMAX. Now, Quentin Tarantino’s film will be released in AMC theaters, which have around 200 IMAX screens across the U.S. Along with other independent theaters, the film is expected to be released on 500 screens worldwide. Later, the movie will also be available to stream on Netflix.

Apart from its theatrical and streaming releases, Quentin Tarantino has another plan for the movie.

Quentin Tarantino to release novel The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth in a series

Quentin Tarantino will release his third book, titled The Adventures of Cliff Booth, this year. According to Variety, HarperCollins will publish the book on December 8, 2026. And this comes just a few days before the film, The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth’s release on December 23. The book is reportedly set to follow the same character, Cliff Booth.

Tarantino’s first book also followed the same character. His debut novel, which was the novelization of his film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, was published nearly two years after the film’s release. However, this time, he has made certain changes to the release schedule, which might further intrigue readers and viewers.
