Democrats are projected to have a 69 percent chance of winning control of the Senate and a 92 percent chance of taking the House, according to prediction platform Kalshi, ahead of Election Day.
Control of Congress is up for grabs in the 2026 midterms, with Republicans fighting to defend their narrow majorities in both chambers as Democrats look to flip the House and Senate.
The latest projections show a stark contrast between the two parties just days before Election Day, with Democrats’ potential gains being compared to the party’s 2008 blowout victory under Barack Obama.
President Donald Trump will travel to Daytona Beach, Florida, today in a bid to rally support for Republicans, as GOP Rep. Byron Donalds runs to succeed Governor Ron DeSantis and faces Democratic candidate David Jolly.
Trump has also changed course on two rallies that were originally planned to be virtual in Kansas City and Iowa this weekend. The White House confirmed the president will take part in a blitz of at least 20 tele-rallies in the run-up to Election Day.
Meanwhile, Trump has called for Alaska Senate candidate Mary Peltola to be prosecuted over the alleged ballot sabotage plot, calling the reported scheme ‘voter fraud at the highest level.’

Polling guru issues stark new warning for Republicans ahead of midterms
Allan Lichtman, a historian at American University in Washington, DC, predicts that Democrats will sweep both the US House and the US Senate on Tuesday next week.
In an interview with The Times, Lichtman said President Donald Trump’s approval ratings, national polling, voter enthusiasm, and early voting trends all point to a punishing night for Republicans.
‘When the approval rating for a president is as low as Trump’s, on average the White House party loses 40 House and six Senate seats,’ Lichtman told The Times. ‘It’s not a prediction; that’s just showing how heavily the winds are blowing against Republicans.’
Lichtman said Democrats are leading Republicans by seven to 11 points on the generic congressional ballot, which he considers more reliable than individual race polls.

Vice President JD Vance has canceled his scheduled trip to Minnesota to hold a news conference on the administration’s efforts to combat fraud, according to the Treasury Department.

The Daily Mail has been told he will be attending a planned rally in Ohio on Monday.
Top Democrat Joe Radinovich splits with Ilhan Omar as she faces growing calls to release secret immigration files… and criminal probe overshadows reelection campaign
A former Minnesota Democratic state lawmaker publicly rebuked Representative Ilhan Omar over claims she married her brother, warning Democrats against blindly defending the congresswoman amid an ongoing federal immigration criminal probe.
Joe Radinovich, a former Democratic-Farmer-Labor state representative with close ties to Minnesota’s political establishment, made the extraordinary remarks in a series of posts on X on Thursday.

Barack Obama’s much-ballyhooed presidential center in Chicago has just blown past the $1 billion mark in construction costs and commitments.

JD Vance branded ‘insensitive’ as he gives vulgar response to young woman’s concerns about the economy
JD Vance answered a young Republican woman’s question about being priced out of a home by cracking a joke about Ohio Senator Jon Husted’s backside.
The vice president was taking questions at a Fox News town hall taped in Fort Worth, Texas, and aired Thursday night on Jesse Watters Primetime, five days before the midterms.
Kate White, vice president of the Turning Point USA chapter at Texas Christian University, told Vance her generation is pushed to marry young and have as many children as possible while a house stays out of reach.
‘How does the right and yourself expect us to start families young when the average price of a home in America now costs more than $415,000?’ she asked.
Vance thanked her for the question, then started counting before drifting to another topic.
Poll predicts Democrat Adam Hamilton to win Kansas race
A new poll has predicted Democrat Adam Hamilton will win the Kansas Senate race.
Hamilton is estimated to win 52 percent of the vote, while incumbent Republican Senator Roger Marshall takes 43 percent, according to a Washington Post-Schar School poll of Kansas voters.
It comes as Donald Trump has reversed his decision to cancel a rally in Kansas on election eve after facing backlash.
Elections forecasters predict Democrats will flip at least 12 House seats
The Cook Political Report, an election forecasting agency, projects that Democrats will flip 12 to 25 House seats and win a majority in the House of Representatives.
This would give Democrats as many as 240 seats, the party’s largest House majority since 2009.
Trump says voters need ‘190 IQ’ to distinguish the two Dan Sullivans on Alaska ballot
Donald Trump claimed that voters will need an IQ of almost 200 to understand the difference between the two Dan Sullivans, who are on the ballot for Alaska’s Senate seat.
‘You need about 190 IQ to figure out the ballot,’ the president told KCMO radio in Kansas.
Although the ballot clearly lists Dan Sullivan as the Republican incumbent and his doppelganger as Daniel J. Sullivan Jr, Trump said that most people ‘don’t know what incumbent means.’
More than 43 million ballots have been cast
Early voting is soaring in the midterm elections, and over 43 million Americans have cast their ballots.
An analysis of Associated Press data shows the surge is especially pronounced in Texas, where voters are deciding closely watched Senate, House and governor’s races.
More than 6.3 million Texans had voted early as of Wednesday, compared with 4.2 million at the same point four years ago, a 50 percent increase.
Advance voting has also increased over 30 percent from the same point four years ago in Maine, Michigan, North Carolina and Kansas, all states with competitive Senate races.
