Apple officially unveils its touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro, starting at $2,900

After announcing its new iPad mini, M6 iMac, and 14-inch M6 MacBook Pro earlier this week, Apple held its big “Pro and tell” event today in Los Angeles, where it finally unveiled its overhauled MacBook Pro with a touchscreen tandem OLED display.

Apple’s all-new “MacBook Pro with the PROLED XDR Display” marks the company’s first major MacBook Pro overhaul since 2021, and it comes with some major design changes. The biggest is the aforementioned tandem OLED display, which Apple says delivers “a visual experience unlike any other.” It features up to 2,000 nits of peak HDR and SDR brightness, a 120Hz variable refresh rate, and a wide color gamut that covers both P3 and Adobe RGB for what Apple calls “brilliant color.”

The new MacBook Pro also brings touch capabilities to a MacBook screen for the first time, letting you interact with apps directly on the display with just a tap of your finger. Apple has also ditched the notch on its new OLED MacBook Pro, replacing it with an interactive Dynamic Island, a feature it has used on the iPhone for years.

Apple’s new OLED MacBook Pro is powered by its M5 Pro and M5 Max chips and is available for pre-order now ahead of its November 6 launch. The 14-inch model starts at $2,900 with an M5 Pro chip, 24GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage, while the 16-inch model with the same specs starts at $3,400.
