Perth dad identified as cyclist killed in suspected hit-and-run days after completing 200km cancer charity ride

A Perth father has been identified as the cyclist who was killed in a suspected hit-and-run in the city’s southern suburbs on Tuesday.

Joseph Paratore, 40, was struck by an unknown vehicle at about 5.20am on North Lake Road in Bibra Lake and died at the scene.

The West Australian reported Mr Paratore recently completed a cycling fundraiser for cancer research and had previously taken part in charity rides.

Earlier this month, Mr Paratore completed the MACA Cancer 200 Ride for the Perkins for a fourth time and raised $982.

Money raised from the 200km ride supports work at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.

It was reported his contribution would help provide four hours of research, which could be life-saving.

A photo posted on Mr Paratore’s social media earlier in 2026 showed him celebrating his 40th birthday with his wife and two sons beside a cycling-themed cake.

In a post on its Facebook page, WestCycle extended its ‘heartfelt condolences’ to Mr Paratore’s family and loved ones.
