The model and actress, who recently got remarried to TV writer Jeff Greenstein, says it was “shocking” to suddenly feel overlooked

Model Paulina Porizkova, 61, could not be more happily coupled up after meeting and marrying TV writer Jeff Greenstein, 62, with whom she connected on the dating app Raya.

But prior to their July nuptials in Italy, she says she was shocked at how invisible she’d suddenly become to men.

“I was on Raya for five years, and I got, I got maybe four hits. In five years!” she tells PEOPLE. Older women are f—ng invisible on Raya.”

She said it wasn’t just on Raya that she felt invisible. “If you want to find somebody, and you go out to events to meet people, if you are in your late 50s going out to parties, going to a bar, you’re going to totally get overlooked.”

She says it happened to her at around age 58.

“I know people don’t believe me. They’re like, ‘Oh, you’re Paulina Porizkova, how is that possible?’ Well, you should just shadow me at a party and see how guys my age will just walk away and follow the 30-year-old to buy her a drink instead.”

After being one of the most celebrated models for decades, she admits it was a shock to the system.

“It was shocking to me, because [after the divorce from ex Ric Ocasek], I was like, ‘Oh, I’ll do a lot of dating.’ And then I was like, ‘Wait, but with who?’ Because when I was dating before I met my husband, I was an extremely popular date. So going from being the hottest girl in town to being an invisible 58-year-old was really shocking.”

Of course, now she’s thrilled to have met and connected with her husband, Greenstein, who had set the age range of women he was interested in between 52 and 60. “I wasn’t ruling out the idea of meeting a contemporary,” he says.

From their first conversation, the pair hit it off. Greenstein, who has written for TV comedies like Will & Grace and Friends, was thrilled by the quick wit of the Czech-born model, and their romance began with endless phone calls.

“All we did was talk, and then FaceTime, and then have tea on FaceTime, which turned to wine on FaceTime, which turned into tequila on FaceTime,” Porizkova told PEOPLE in July. Two years later, Greenstein proposed, and they made it official in July with an intimate wedding in Italy.

Greenstein noted that they both know how lucky they are to have found each other in their 60s, and that they can’t wait to spend the rest of their lives traveling, eating and having their usual witty conversations.  

“She’s the best-read person in the world,” he said of his new bride.

“And so quick-witted, so insightful. I wasn’t prepared for it. I had no idea the depths of her intelligence. She cares about family, about social justice, she speaks four languages.” He added, “And she’s sexy as hell.
