Jesse Baird’s mother leaves the courtroom as a digital recreation of his alleged fatal shooting is played during Beau Lamarre-Condon murder trial

The court was shown CT scans of Jesse Baird’s head taken after he was allegedly fatally shot.

Dr James Raleigh, a radiologist, told the court the scan showed extreme impact on the right side of the temple, where a bullet likely entered the skull.

He said there was another wound to the left side of the temple, where the bullet likely exited.

The CT scan showed displacement of teeth where a bullet likely entered his jaw.

The court also heard detailed evidence from a forensic pathologist who conducted the post-mortem examinations on Jesse Baird and Luke Davies (pictured).

Dr Kendall Bailey told the court where the bullets entered and left their bodies.

Baird was allegedly shot through the top of the right shoulder, with the bullet travelling through his body and exiting through his chin.

The bullet did not pass through major arteries or his windpipe, and was not inherently fatal, the court heard.

She described the injury as a ‘very nasty injury’, but that it was survivable with medical attention.

‘A person who sustained an injury like that may be incapacitated, bony injuries are very painful,’ she said.

Another bullet went through one side of his head and out the other.

Dr Bailey said she couldn’t determine the extent of his brain injury caused by the second bullet because his brain was ‘liquefied’ by the time his body reached the autopsy table.

She said the second bullet may not have immediately killed Baird because it didn’t hit his brain stem, but he would have been incapacitated.

Anyone with a brain injury like Baird would not be able to consciously fling a gun across a room, the court heard.

Dr Bailey also told the court that Davies was allegedly stabbed twice in the right thigh after he died, along with suffering a severe neck injury.

The stab wounds were from a ‘single-bladed instrument’, but they didn’t bleed, which could indicate the injuries took place after death because the heart wasn’t pumping blood around the body anymore.

She said similar sharp defects were found on the surfboard bag covering Davies’ body.

Davies had a bullet wound that entered his head just above his left eye and exited his body through the back of his head.

Dr Bailey said the bullet wound may not have been instantly fatal, but he would have been immediately incapacitated and died quickly.

His cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head, but Dr Bailey said she couldn’t rule out a severe neck injury.

Davies was not shot in the neck, but she said the injury would have constricted his jaw and he may have choked back blood.

No drugs were detected in his system. An alcohol analysis could not be completed.

Ballistics expert Lucas Van Der Walt took the court through the mechanics of Beau Lamare-Condon’s police-issued firearm (pictured) in detail.

Jurors were shown a replica gun that has the same dimensions as the alleged murder weapon, but cannot be fired.

Mr Van Der Walt demonstrated how to load and shoot the gun.
