Football fans beg NFL to sign up Monday Night Football anthem singer for the Super Bowl after ‘amazing’ rendition

Monday Night Football viewers urged the NFL to hire singer Morgan St Jean to perform the Super Bowl national anthem after her ‘beautiful’ rendition ahead of the Bills-Rams game.

The self-styled ‘feminist pop princess’ stood on the field at SoFi Stadium ahead of kickoff on Monday night to perform the Star-Spangled Banner – at the same venue where the Super Bowl will be played in February.

As has become customary, fans immediately jumped on social media to give their reaction to this week’s performance, with the majority of viewers praising St Jean’s vocals.

‘Just heard one of the best renditions of our National Anthem since Whitney,’ one wrote, while another added: ‘She killed that anthem.’

A third claimed: ‘Beautiful anthem. Wow! Get her out there for the Super Bowl in this building. Morgan St Jean, heck of a job.’

Others weren’t so sure, though, with one user replying to the Super Bowl idea with a brutal riposte: ‘How long have you been deaf?’

For her performance, St Jean wore a Rams jersey with No 7 on, honoring legendary player and coach Bob Waterfield – who had his number retired in 1952.

If St Jean is handed the biggest gig of them all at the Super Bowl, she would become only the second female singer to perform the anthem in the last six years.

Reba McEntire was given the honor in 2024, but the past two years have seen Jon Batiste and Charlie Puth given the mic.

The most iconic performance in history, though, remains Whitney Houston in 1991, shortly after the Gulf War began.
