Patrick Clancy completes Chicago Marathon in 3 hours 35 minutes weeks after jury was unable to decide whether ex-wife Lindsay murdered their three children

Patrick Clancy finished the Chicago Marathon with an impressive time just weeks after a jury was unable to reach a verdict in his ex-wife’s murder trial.

Patrick, 38, finished the race in the Windy City on Sunday with an official time of three hours, 35 minutes and 29 seconds, placing him 12,040th among runners who completed the grueling 26.2-mile course.

His above-average finish time comes just over five weeks after a mistrial was declared in the triple homicide trial of his ex-wife, Lindsay Clancy, following an 11-1 jury deadlock over the January 2023 deaths of their three children at their Duxbury home.

His new wife, Dr Rachel Danis, 37, was spotted cheering him on, TMZ reports.

Danis, who is pregnant, shared how running sparked their romance during the couple’s sit-down interview with 60 Minutes, which aired following the trial.

‘I was just a girl that met a guy running in Central Park on a really cold Saturday. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that,’ the fertility doctor said.

Friends told the Daily Mail that the couple share a passion for exercise, with photos showing them hiking, running and working out from as early as February 2024.

Patrick was also seen running around New York City, where he relocated in April 2023, during Lindsay’s high-profile trial.

Patrick and Lindsay had been married for six years when she killed their three children: Cora, five, Dawson, three and Callan, who was eight months old.

Lindsay, 36, was a labor and delivery nurse before she strangled the children with exercise bands in the basement of their home as Patrick was out running errands.

She then tried to kill herself by cutting her wrists and neck before jumping from a second-floor bedroom window. Lindsay survived but was left paralyzed from the waist down.

She did not deny killing her children but pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, and claimed she was suffering from severe postpartum depression and psychosis at the time.

On the stand, Clancy told jurors how his ex-wife was taking a cocktail of prescription medications and shared with him the ‘intrusive thoughts’ she was having about harming the children.

‘She described thoughts of hurting the kids or them having some sort of ailment,’ he testified.

He told jurors he did not feel concerned for his kids’ safety because she had not expressed any intent to act on those thoughts.

But when Patrick returned home on January 24, 2023, after picking up medicine and a takeout order, he was met with a horrifying scene and found his then-wife on the ground outside their home.

She then told him she had tried to take her own life and that the children were in the basement, Patrick testified.

Under the impression they were still alive, he frantically dialed 911 and waited for first responders.

When they arrived, he rushed into the house to find all three of his children lying still with exercise resistance bands wrapped around their necks.

‘She killed the f****** kids!’ he screamed, according to police.

Still, Patrick called his ex a ‘very dedicated mother’ who would do anything for their children – a point he later emphasized in an interview on 60 Minutes.

‘I saw headlines that say “killer mom” and “baby murderer monster” and none of them were accurate. I believed that it was her mental illness that caused that,’ he said.

Patrick also discussed in the interview how the stress from the murders took its toll on him and left him suicidal.

‘There was a time I didn’t think I would live to see my 35th birthday, and I was completely fine with it,’ he said.

He revealed how he moved to New York sometime during the spring of 2023 to be somewhere he could grieve alone.

Patrick would then go on to meet Danis one year later.

It remains unclear whether Lindsay will face another trial over the children’s deaths.
