Cole Palmer casually announces his new Chelsea contract on awkward mock livestream just HOURS before clash with Bournemouth – as Blues star returns to Twitch after being banned for streaming EA FC27 too early

Cole Palmer has claimed Chelsea are ‘going in the right direction’ after signing a new long-term contract until 2034.

The Chelsea star announced his new deal on a mock Twitch livestream, which saw him respond to fake questions from fans.

Palmer read out the question ‘How long are you staying at Chelsea then?’, with the attacker responding: ‘Well, I’ve just signed a new contract about 20 minutes ago.’

‘So I’m staying for about eight more years.

‘So hopefully you can sing that song a bit more that you all sing.’

The mock Twitch stream comes after Palmer was temporarily suspended from the platform last month after playing EA Sports FC 27 before the game’s release, leading to the midfielder appealing for them to lift his ban.

Palmer had seven years left to run on his previous deal, but has agreed improved terms with the new contract extending his commitment by a further 12 months.

The 24-year-old expressed his belief the Blues are making progress and will be in contention to win major trophies.

‘Chelsea means a lot to me and I think the club is going in the right direction, so I’m delighted to sign and I’m obviously very happy,’ Palmer said.

‘Speaking to the owners, to the sporting directors and obviously the manager, they gave me a lot of confidence so it was only right to sign.

‘Speaking to players as well, everyone has the same ambitions. I feel like we can win major trophies here consistently and I want to be a part of that and play a big role in it too.’

Palmer has scored 58 goals and provided 34 assists in 138 appearances for Chelsea since joining from Man City in 2023.

The attacking midfielder has played a key role in helping the Blues win the FIFA Club World Cup and Conference League in 2025.

Palmer has enjoyed a strong start to the season having scored four goals and provided two assists in seven matches.

He now boasts one of the longest contracts in the Premier League, with team-mates Joao Pedro and Geovany Quenda also on deals until 2034.

Erling Haaland’s long-term Manchester City contract also runs until 2034.

Despite his performances for Chelsea, Palmer has made just 14 appearances for England.

Palmer withdrew from the England squad during the recent international break, with Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel stating he ‘misses way too many camps’ and that this was ‘another missed opportunity’.

Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso defended Palmer, with his withdrawal through injury related to the groin problem which has previously plagued him

‘We were cautious, and he was cautious as well, he wanted to be,’ Alonso said of Palmer.

‘He wouldn’t have played the way he wants to play. It’s sometimes better to take a step back and wait until you feel better and do it the right way.

‘There is always a risk. With Morgan (Rogers), there was a risk. Nothing happened. With Jamie (Gittens), there was a risk. We’ve lost him for a few weeks. With Cole, it was the right decision.’
