Gary Neville’s upgrade to his Overlap podcast empire appears to be off to a rocky start after pundit Jamie Carragher and YouTuber Mark Goldbridge exchanged jibes moments into the debut of their new show.
Carragher and Goldbridge went head-to-head at the start of a launch show for the Overlap Daily, the expansion of Neville’s podcast network.
Liverpool legend Carragher was quick to scrutinise Goldbridge, who has risen to fame in recent years with his outspoken views on Manchester United on his YouTube channels.
Carragher highlighted Goldbridge’s real name – Brent Cleminson – and the lingering claims that he is actually a Nottingham Forest supporter in the opening exchanges on the show.
‘Are you going to be yourself on the show? I keep reading that you’re not going to be yourself, you’ve sold out,’ Carragher quipped, prompting laughter from Neville.
Goldbridge responded: ‘I was actually thinking on the way up, you know, your punditry career is a bit like your playing career, isn’t it?’

Carragher referred to Goldbridge by his real name – ‘Brent’ – and questioned his background
‘Go on, have you got your lines ready and all that? I’ve got my lines ready for you,’ Carragher replied.
‘Used to be a policeman, didn’t you?’
After Goldbridge responded ‘yeah’ Carragher joked the presenter was a ‘fraud’ to provoke more laughter from Neville.
‘This is why I’m here, for the Man City stuff,’ Goldbridge said, referencing the recent independent commission decision to find City guilty of financial rule breaches, which the club has appealed.
‘Yeah, but you are the biggest fraud though, aren’t you, when you think about it?’ Carragher continued, with Goldbridge responding ‘Why’s this?’
‘Your name’s Mark, but it’s really Brent, and you say you’re a Man United fan, but you’re really a Nottingham Forest fan,’ Carragher said.
‘You know what I mean, you want to start with that?’
The exchange continued with Goldbridge referencing Carragher wearing an Everton kit, having supported the club as a youngster, before ultimately becoming a club legend at their arch rivals Liverpool.
Neville’s The Overlap, majority owned by Global, earlier this year paid a seven-figure sum for Goldbridge’s The United Stand and That’s Football YouTube channels.
The move has seen The United Stand be extended to include ‘Stick to United’, which will feature former players and journalists, with the show fronted by Goldbridge and Wayne Rooney.
Goldbridge’s That’s Football was also rebranded to Overlap Daily as part of the deal, with the YouTuber continuing to broadcast his watchalongs on the channel.
He was also confirmed as host of the Overlap Daily’s Friday show, with Carragher, Joe Hart and Peter Schmeichel set to be regular co-hosts.
