Sophie Cunningham claims A’ja Wilson should have been suspended for heated fan altercation as she takes another shot at Aces rival

Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham took aim at A’ja Wilson once again after the Las Vegas Aces’ playoff triumph.

Wilson and the Aces sealed their spot in the semifinals with a thrilling Game 3 win over the Indiana Fever on Thursday.

However, the best-of-three series wasn’t without its controversy. During Game 2 in Indiana, Wilson made headlines when she furiously approached a fan in the stands.

Wilson was seen storming towards a fan who was seated in the second row, pointing at him and shouting, ‘You don’t point at me,’ towards him during the fourth quarter of the game.

Cunningham, who appeared to troll Wilson over the incident earlier this week, weighed in on the altercation, telling the reigning MVP to ‘grow up.’

‘Us women in sports… Yell from the rooftops that we want equality. We want to be treated like the men, and we want all this stuff, and we deserve all these things,’ Cunningham said on her No Hesitation podcast with Drew Hanlen.

‘If you’re asking for all these fans to come and you have new fans who are real sports fans and they come and do something that a sports fan would probably do if you’re on the opposing team, we’re going to go for them for just pointing and saying that you fouled? Like, grow up. What are we doing?

‘We ask all these things, and then once people come out and support us, we get mad, and it’s inappropriate, and then us athletes need to be treated better, and these fans need to be more supportive and not say anything negative.’

The Fever guard continued to rip into Wilson as she claimed that the Aces superstar should not have been allowed to play Game 3.

‘She should have been, you know, something should have happened there. The two people that came off the bench onto the court, that should have happened. So I definitely think there’s a double standard…But I think for someone pointing and saying that the foul was on you, like, grow up; I’m over it.’

The incident came with 4:10 to play in the fourth quarter of Game 2 on Tuesday when the fan in question appeared to say something to Wilson after Cunningham was called for a foul.

Wilson then charged toward the fan and began jabbing her finger at him as she screamed at him.

Two of her teammates, an assistant coach and security quickly moved to separate everyone.

The fan was eventually escorted from courtside by security staff but was ultimately allowed to return to the bowl.

Cunningham fanned the flames earlier in the week when she took a dig at Wilson on Wednesday over the outburst.

She appeared to troll the Aces superstar over the incident in a TikTok video, expressing her amazement about the ‘comeback year for the point.’

‘Not trying to be dramatic at all, like seriously,’ she started off saying. ‘I was just here having my morning coffee and what a damn comeback year for the ‘point.’ Who would have ever thought? Just who would have ever thought?’

The video was likely referencing her own ‘point,’ which Cunningham did towards Phoenix Mercury player DeWanna Bonner, which sparked on-court contention and went viral.

It also appeared to be a reference to Wilson’s altercation with the fan, who allegedly recreated Cunningham’s point pose towards the WNBA star.
