A Kansas dog is being praised for his loyal companionship after seeking help for its owner who had fallen and was unable to get up.
Bodycam footage showed an officer first encounter the tiny dog in the middle of a dark road while patrolling a Kansas City suburb last month.
The Leawood Police Department released the feel-good footage and explained: ‘The officer noticed the dog was on a leash, but there was no owner in sight.’
The dog can be seen barking at the officer, who replied: ‘Hi, why don’t you go on back home?’
The Leawood Police Department said the officer then ‘followed the dog about half a block to its home, where he found the garage door open and the homeowner on the floor, unable to get up.’
‘The resident had been there for more than three hours,’ according to police.
Bodycam footage showed the officer following the dog up a driveway when another dog emerged.
The officer asked the dogs: ‘Is this where you live?’
