“As I’ve gotten older and been more comfortable in my skin, I’ve had the confidence to experiment and play around,” she told USA Today in an interview published Sept. 28. “But it was something that didn’t always come natural to me. I wanted to be in extensions and weaves at all times.”

Now, the reality star says, “I feel like part of it is taking the power back and recognizing my God-given locks are my crown.”

Plus, Miller is hoping to use her experience as an opportunity to inspire a younger generation.

“I want girls to learn to appreciate and love their curls and their kinks and their coils from early on,” she continued. “If that means playing with your hairstyles, or if they see me playing with my hairstyles and wearing it on carpets.

At the end of the day, Miller wants those little girls to know that “no matter what our hair looks like, it is professional, it’s acceptable, it’s our hair and we are so much more beautiful because of it.”
