On Tuesday, the court released footage of the moment police found cleaners at Jesse Baird’s house, just two days after he vanished.

Body-worn footage showed Detective Senior Constable Alistair Wright and a colleague knocking on Baird’s door at about 1.15pm on February 22, 2024, saying: ‘Hello, it’s just the police.’

Eventually, a female cleaner answered the door and said the tenants weren’t home.

The officer asked: ‘You’re the cleaner?’

She replied: ‘Yeah.’

The officer asked: ‘Is anyone else home … is it all right if we come in and we have a chat to you?’

She replied: ‘It’s OK.’

An officer asked: ‘Is there any blood here?’

The cleaner, whose first language was not English, replied: ‘We clean’.

Officers then told the two cleaners to stop doing their jobs and step outside.

The terrace was then declared a crime scene.

Senior Sergeant Bronwyn Lansley told the court Baird’s blood had seeped through the floorboards and into the cavity under the house.

Investigators also found remnants of blood on the rug in the living room and on the rug, in the hallway, and in the front bedroom – which was Baird’s bedroom, the court heard.

Ms Lansley also said Davies’ blood was predominantly found inside Baird’s bedroom, which indicates Baird and Davies were in there together at some stage after they died.

Photos of the crime scene showed significant amounts of luminol in the kitchen, Baird’s bedroom, and through the living room.

A groundskeeper found bloodied bedsheets and clothes in a skip bin, along with Luke Davies’ identification and Qantas card.

Part of Craig Scott’s statement was read before the jury on Tuesday morning. It included details about the moment he found blood and black garbage bags in a skip bin in Cronulla, southern Sydney.

Mr Scott said in his statement that the bin was filled with grass trimmings when he left work in the afternoon of February 20, 2024 – the day after Jesse Baird and Luke Davies were allegedly killed.

When he got to work the following day, he said it looked as though someone else had put rubbish in the bin. He then asked a colleague to have a look with him.

‘There were AFL footy shorts still in plastic packaging,’ he said.

‘I saw a bunch of white flags bunched together near the top and it had a lot of red.

‘When we moved them to the side, we saw several bin bags … I opened one of the bags and removed a piece of brown clothing, I only took a little from the bag and it had red stains on it.’

Mr Scott said he left it in the bag because he thought it was covered in blood.

His colleague opened another bag and found a bed sheet with similar stains.

They also found a silver watch and a leather pouch with credit cards in the name of Luke Davies, along with a Qantas card. Davies was a Qantas flight attendant.

Both men ‘decided something suspicious had gone on’ and decided to take the watch and the leather pouch to the police station.
