An Illinois woman pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder and was sentenced to 12 years in prison for stabbing her coworker at a Wendy’s.
The victim was speaking to the Wendy’s manager in 2025 when Tichina Marshall, 29, burst in armed with a knife and said ‘I am going to kill you,’ according to the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Marshall hit the victim with the knife twice in the face and once on top of the head.
Police found the victim bleeding profusely and almost unconscious on the floor of the Wendy’s manager’s office.
The victim – who has not been publicly identified – suffered a 3-centimeter-deep stab wound to the head and a fractured skull.
The incident occurred on May 26, 2025 – Marshall’s sentence was ruled by Judge Karen Wall last week.
Marshall also threatened to kill the victim one month prior to the stabbing, prosecutors said.

The two used to work together at a Wendy’s on North Vermilion Street in Danville, Illinois, which has since shut down as part of a corporate effort to reduce underperforming locations.
Marshall must serve 85% of her 12 year sentence, which will be followed by 3 years of mandatory supervised release.
Marshall has faced a string of misdemeanor charges and arrests in the years leading up to this incident, such as domestic battery and aggravated assault, court filings show.
The 477 days she has spent in the Vermilion County Jail will be deducted from her 12-year sentence, WCIA reported.
State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy said, ‘I would like to thank the victim for cooperating with our office throughout the criminal justice process.
While no sentence can undo the lasting effects caused by this defendant, this prison sentence reflects the violent nature of this attack and the devastating injuries suffered by the victim.’
