The four masked teens in Massachusetts who stormed a McDonald’s drive-thru and attacked a worker are facing hate crime charges, police said.

Shocking video footage showed the four teens wearing masks and black hoodies while beating up a teenage worker behind the counter at a McDonald’s in Lynn, a town 12 miles outside of Boston, at around 10pm on September 18.

A police detective identified four juveniles believed to be the attackers, the suspects were located and arrested on September 23, according to a news release from the Lynn Police Department. 

Each teen faces seven charges: assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, trespassing, affray and civil rights violation with injury.

In the harrowing video, the victim was thumped to the ground as the masked attackers punched and threw him around.

A large group of brazen teens riled the fight on as they took turns getting in punches.

No one intervened and helped the victim out, including adults, according to the X user who reposted the video from its unknown original creator, causing it to go viral. 

‘Everyone stood there and filmed it laughing. Absolutely horrifying,’ he wrote.

Lynn Police identified four suspects, who have been arrested and taken into custody before they appear in court

A dozen police officers showed up and dispersed the crowd, according to NBC Boston. 

The employee was hurt but declined to go to the hospital, the outlet reported.  

The Lynn Police Department has since launched an investigation into the incident. 

All four of the accused have been taken into juvenile detention, where they will be held until their respective court appearances, police said. 

The identities of the alleged attackers will not be released as they are underage. 

Detectives are continuing their search of any other individuals who may have been involved. 

The masked teens were allegedly part of the larger group which can be seen huddling around the fight and filming as the McDonald’s worker gets trampled to the ground, according to CBS News. 

The group came from a nearby football game and took over the McDonald’s on Boston Street, concerned parents shared in a conversation with the outlet. 

‘As a father, community member and mayor, I’m deeply concerned by the incidents involving young people in our community this weekend,’ Lynn Mayor Jared Nicholson said in a statement earlier this week. 

Massachusetts classifies a hate crime as ‘an incident when someone threatens, attacks, intimidates, harasses, or otherwise harms another person because of that person’s identity, including their race, national origin, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or gender,’ according to the state’s official website.

Lynn Police did not reveal which category the charges invoked.
