This is the moment ‘selfish’ Motability fly-tippers are caught red-handed using their taxpayer-funded car to dump bucket loads of waste on private land.
Footage shows a man and woman parking a black Vauxhall people carrier by the side of a road in the village of Astley, Warwickshire, on May 30.
The pair were caught in the act dumping bucket loads of waste and debris from the back of the car on Howe Green Lane before driving off.
However, unbeknownst to the fly-tipping couple, they had parked on private land and were captured by the owner’s private security cameras.
Warwickshire Police and North Warwickshire Borough Council launched a joint investigation to identify the culprits before they admitted responsibility for the ‘illegal dumping of waste’.
Officers seized the couple’s taxpayer-funded car under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and they were each handed £1,000 fines.
Their Motability contract has since been terminated.
Councillor Margaret Bell, who chairs the local authority’s community and environment board, said: ‘Fly-tipping is a selfish and illegal act that damages the environment, blights our countryside and places an unnecessary burden on landowners and taxpayers.

‘This case demonstrates the value of partnership working between North Warwickshire Borough Council and Warwickshire Police.
‘Thanks to rapid enquiries and clear evidence, those responsible were identified and held accountable.
‘We would encourage anyone who witnesses fly-tipping to report it so that appropriate action can be taken.’
A spokesman for Motability Operations, which runs the Motability Scheme, said: ‘Scheme vehicles are there to support disabled people so we take misuse very seriously and act quickly to protect the scheme for those who rely on it.
‘Following an investigation by our special investigations unit, the individual’s contract was terminated.’
A Warwickshire Police spokesman said: ‘On 30 May the driver and passenger of a vehicle were understood to be involved in a fly-tipping incident.
‘Working in conjunction with North Warwickshire Borough Council, officers from our Rural Crime Team subsequently seized the vehicle under the Environmental Act.’
