Five people have been arrested after a man in his 50s was found dead inside a house.

Police were called to a property in High Street in Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire, on the afternoon of September 2 after someone reported a concern for the man’s welfare.

Officers discovered the body of a man in his 50s who is believed to have died a number of days before he was found.

Detectives from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit opened a murder investigation after a postmortem examination on September 3 at Leicester Royal Infirmary.

The squad have made five arrests in connection with the investigation.

Three men, aged 43, 48 and 54 have been arrested on suspicion of murder, while two people, a woman, aged 38 and a man aged 53, have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All remain in police custody.

Detective Inspector Cheryl Thompson said: ‘This is a fast-paced investigation with three people now in custody on suspicion of murder.

‘In recent days we’ve been speaking to local people and businesses and would still like to hear from anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the High Street area of Burton Latimer in the last week or may have captured anything suspicious on dashcam, CCTV or a doorbell camera.’
