Melbourne’s fitness community is reeling after a prominent personal trainer admitted to child abuse material offences.

Leroy Anthony Sevillano, 29, fronted Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday and pleaded guilty to soliciting and transmitting child abuse material in November 2022.

The fitness professional also admitted to a further charge from that same month of illegal conduct making it easier to procure a child for sex outside Australia.

Victoria Police charged the south-eastern suburbs personal trainer in March this year following an investigation by the Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team. 

According to police, the conduct Sevillano admitted to occurred while the child was outside Australia. 

Sevillano was originally charged with five offences but three charges were withdrawn at Friday’s court hearing.

The withdrawn charges were: alleged procurement of a child outside Australia for sexual activity, transmitting indecent communication and obtaining child pornography from outside Australia.

All the withdrawn charges against Sevillano had been alleged to have occurred in November 2022.

Sevillano, of Cranbourne West, is a popular personal trainer who is lauded on social media by multiple clients and has been affiliated with Anytime Fitness franchises. 

Sevillano is also an Australian competition powerlifter who has competed in various events.

His bail was extended to front the County Court for a pre-sentence hearing in February next year.
