Couple arrested for illegal climb to top of Empire State Building put on VERY amorous display at latest court appearance while wearing utterly shameless jewelry

A daredevil couple who scaled the Empire State Building were seen unable to keep their hands off of each other as they shared a steamy French kiss at their latest court appearance.

Angela Nikolau, 33, and Ivan Beerkus, 32, entered the courtroom on Monday morning as they face multiple charges for climbing the iconic building on July 1.

The newly-engaged couple were seen in stylish leather jackets and matching handcuff bracelets before they locked lips outside of the Manhattan courthouse.

Nikolau flashed her engagement ring that Beerkus proposed with some 1,400 feet above ground after the pair scaled the spire of the NYC landmark just last month.

The Russian couple, well-known for their dangerous feats climbing high-rise buildings, face multiple charges including reckless endangerment, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, burglary, criminal tampering, violation of a local law and possession of burglar’s tools.

Both Beerkus and Nikolau were seen dressed in grey jeans, black boots and leather jackets, with Nikolau glammed up and sporting a stylish hairdo.

As they appeared in front of the judge during the brief hearing, the pair stood hand-in-hand behind their attorneys and shared knowing looks.

While they made no comment during their appearance, Beerkus said a quick ‘Thank you’ as the couple were congratulated on their engagement.

The couple, who have not yet entered a plea, wrote online: ‘Whatever happens in court, we will respect the process and accept the consequences of our choices.’

They are set to return to court on September 29.

During their daring feat on top of the Empire State Building’s spire, they deployed a banner with a message of love that read: ‘When the power of love beats the love of power the world knows peace.’

The message appeared to be a modified quote from British politician William Gladstone, and is often misattributed to the rock star Jimi Hendrix.

While masked during the dangerous stunt, Nikolau posted a video to her social media showing off her engagement ring with a stunning view of Manhattan far above the ground in the background.

After the pair descended they were taken into custody by the New York City Police Department at around 1pm.

Tourists and onlookers gazed up in astonishment at what was unfolding above them as the Empire State Building’s observation deck was quickly cleared.

Julie Morris, who saw the scene unfold, told CBS News: ‘We were right at the top. I could see two people open the gates – the mesh gates – and they went up to the top.

‘I just assumed they were allowed up there.’

On the street below the iconic building, police had taped off the area and closed the street.

The stunt couple had previously starred in the 2024 Netflix documentary Skywalkers: A Love Story, and are seen frequently posed atop terrifyingly tall buildings on their social media.
