EXCLUSIVE: Heretic has closed multiple international sales on Alex Schulman’s Adult Supervision ahead of its world premiere at Fantastic Fest in Austin, where it will screen in the Next Wave Competition.
The film has sold to Fandango for Italy, Palace Films for Australia and New Zealand, Vertigo Releasing for Hungary, CinemArt for the Czech Republic and Slovakia, MCF for ex-Yugoslavia and Bulgaria, Mayfly for Poland, Inoekino for the CIS, Taip Toliau for Lithuania, Estinfilm for Estonia and Riga FF for Latvia, with
Warner Bros. Discovery has also bought broadcast rights for HBO Europe and streaming platform HBO Max in multiple Central and Eastern European territories after the theatrical run.
Adult Supervision – known locally as Arkipelag – follows three fathers who chaperone their teenage daughters on a rowdy school trip to a remote island. As tensions mount and old resentments resurface, the boundaries between authority, friendship and violence become increasingly blurred. Above is the film’s first international trailer.
The film brings together three prominent Scandinavian actors: Gustaf Skarsgård (Vikings), Fares Fares (The Nile Hilton Incident) and Linus Wahlgren (Partisan). Schulman, one of Sweden’s best-known authors and co-host of the popular Alex & Sigge’s podcast, makes his feature directorial debut with the film, which he also wrote.
The deals follow Heretic’s international launch of the film at the Cannes market. The film features cinematography by Jakob Ihre, longtime collaborator of Joachim Trier and Emmy-winning director of photography on HBO’s Chernobyl.
Adult Supervision is produced by Warner Bros. International Television Production Sweden, with Christina Legkova as producer and Johan Hedman and Sofie Palage as executive producers. It is co-produced by RMV Film, Tiisch Film, Film Stockholm and Scanbox Entertainment, with support from the Swedish Film Institute and the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth. The film is bing distributed in Sweden by Scanbox Entertainment.
