David Foster greeted Meghan Markle with love. 

The music producer shut down speculation that he snubbed the As Ever founder just before posing alongside her, Prince Harry, and his wife Katharine McPhee at the 40th anniversary celebration for his namesake foundation in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, on Aug. 7. 

“As the host of the David Foster and Friends foundation event, I had already greeted our friends, the Duke and Duchess, at the entrance 10 minutes before the red carpet encounter,” David shared in an Aug. 12 statement to People. “They both, graciously and selflessly, gave their time and went beyond to engage with everyone.”

“It’s sad that certain media chose to deceive a red carpet encounter for clickbait,” the 76-year-old continued. “They turned simple ‘positioning’ to get the best photo into a hurtful lie.”

During the moment in question, David could be seen walking past Meghan and Harry as the Duchess of Sussex put her hand out towards him before he and Katharine joined the royals to pose for photos.
