Chelsea sign Marc Cucurella replacement, Aston Villa line up move for West Ham star while Newcastle press on with pursuit of Benfica defender: WINDOW WATCH

It’s that time of the year again – the transfer window is now open until September 1 and it’s sure to be a busy period with clubs looking to make big signings ahead of next season.

Here are today’s latest developments from Simon Jones and the Daily Mail Sport team…

Palace set to sell another youngster

Cercle Brugge are working on a six-figure deal to sign Tayo Adaramola from Crystal Palace.

The 22-year-old Palace academy product is in the final year of his contract, having spent six loan spells away from the club since 2022 and impressed at Sheffield Wednesday in the second half of last season.

Adaramola made his senior international debut this year, starting in the Republic of Ireland’s 5-0 win over Grenada in May.

He is expected to become the third academy player sold this summer, with Mofe Jemide set to join Alverca after Danny Imray joined Wrexham for £5million.

Chelsea sign Marc Cucurella replacement

Chelsea have signed Rayo Vallecano left-back Pep Chavarria on a five-year deal for a fee of around £16.3m plus add-ons.

The 28-year-old replaces Marc Cucurella, who signed for Real Madrid earlier this summer in a £55.8m deal.

After signing his five-year deal, Chavarria told club media: ‘I’m so excited to get started.

‘This is a dream for me as Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in the world. This is one of the best days of my life,’ added the 28-year-old.

‘It is a big opportunity but I am prepared and will work hard to help the team achieve success.

‘There are a lot of people who have helped me get to this moment and I have to thank my family. They have always supported me and today is only possible because of them.’

Toon press on with Benfica target

Newcastle United are pressing ahead with talks to sign Amar Dedic from Benfica.

The 23-year-old right-back played for new Newcastle boss Matthias Jaissle at RB Salzburg.

Dedic has been capped 31 times by Bosnia and is valued around £25m.

Newcastle continue to work on a new midfielder too.

Camara never lies

Crystal Palace have held further talks with Monaco over 22-year-old midfielder Lamine Camara.

The clubs have been discussing a £40million deal for the Senegal international who has also been tracked by Chelsea, Newcastle and Manchester United.

Camara impressed in Monaco’s friendly against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Monaco are understood to want a fee in excess of £50m who has three years left on contract.

Palace have also spoken about France international Youssouf Fofana who is available from AC Milan.

Villa Wan him

Aston Villa are discussing a move for West Ham right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The 28-year-old is ready to leave West Ham to stay in the top flight and has been considered as a new addition by a number of clubs including Arsenal but Villa are understood to be in pole position.

The Congo international has also been linked with Everton but manager David Moyes is exploring other options.

Villa are in the process of signing Matteo Ruggeri from Atletico Madrid to strengthen their left back options and now Wan-Bissaka looks a strong option for their right-back berth.

They have previously discussed Emerson Royal at Flamengo.

Villa are also finalising a deal to send Evann Guessand on loan to Crystal Palace.

The Eagle has landed… again!

Evann Guessand has rejoined Crystal Palace on a season-long loan from Aston Villa.

Guessand spent the second half of last season on loan at Selhurst Park, playing 14 times as Palace won the UEFA Conference League.

Palace chose not to exercise his option to buy at the end of last season’s loan but remained open to the possibility of Guessand returning on loan. This switch also includes an option to buy.

Palace initially chased the Ivorian on a permanent deal last summer, but he opted to join Aston Villa – where he made just 21 appearances – in a £30million deal from Nice.

Rejoining Palace, Guessand said: ‘I’m so happy to be here. I already have good memories here – but I think it’s only the beginning. I hope many more are coming.’
