Moment ‘passengers run across tarmac in desperate bid to catch flight’ before they are escorted away

Two late-running passengers made a desperate dash across an airport tarmac in high heels after apparently missing their flight.

Footage shows the two women hurrying towards an Aeroflot plane at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport as it prepares for take-off.

Dragging their luggage behind them, the pair can be seen waving frantically towards the cockpit in an apparent attempt to persuade the pilot to stop.

They then approach a member of airport staff, who is seen using his radio to alert colleagues to the unfolding incident.

The women had reportedly arrived too late to board their flight at the Russian airport in July.

But instead of accepting that the aircraft was leaving without them, they apparently made their way onto the tarmac in an attempt to catch it.

Their last-ditch effort proved unsuccessful and the pair were escorted away before having to rearrange their journey.

Footage of the bizarre scenes has since spread across social media, where stunned viewers mocked the passengers’ attempt to halt the plane.

One user wrote: ‘Do they think this is a bus?’

Another said: ‘Hey ladies, rules are rules for a reason, despite how much money you have.’

A third added: ‘The level of obliviousness.’

The women could reportedly face fines of up to £45 under Russian law over the incident, with penalties potentially rising to £260 for an international violation.

It comes after another passenger in Russia reportedly made a similarly desperate attempt to catch a flight in May after becoming stuck in an airport bathroom.

After emerging to discover he had missed boarding and his plane was preparing to leave, the passenger reportedly ran onto the tarmac in an effort to stop it.

His attempt was unsuccessful and the aircraft departed without him, while he was handed a £30 fine.
