He’s never talked about this, but people on Reddit have speculated that his very private personal life and intense control over his public image might conflict with how the show operates.

“I feel like writing for him would be impossible,” one user wrote, “he would have a billion ‘no go’ areas, and even if something was technically ok subject-wise, I feel like he would literally spend an hour over every beat trying to get someone to explain to him WHY is this funny? What’s the joke?”

Tom is dyslexic, which could also explain why he’s never done the show.
