Teenage girl fights for life after joyride in allegedly stolen car ends in crash – as her mate, 14, is also rushed to hospital

A teenage girl has been left fighting for life while a second has been rushed to hospital after an allegedly stolen car crashed in Melbourne’s south-east.

Two 14-year-olds were travelling north in a Honda Jazz on Peninsula Link at 10.15pm on Wednesday.

The driver lost control when the vehicle rolled numerous times and crashed near the Cranbourne-Frankston Road exit.

Victoria Police said the teenage driver was wedged free from the overturned Honda Jazz and rushed to The Royal Children’s Hospital with critical upper body injuries.

Her 14-year-old passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Frankston Hospital.

‘Police are keen to speak to anyone who has dash-cam footage or who witnessed the driving behaviour of the grey Honda Jazz travelling in the area prior to the collision,’ a Victoria Police spokesman said.

The hatchback was allegedly stolen from outside a Chadstone gym on July 23.

Anyone with information has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
