Mary Jo “MJ” Shannon had a message to deliver.
After the mom of Kris Jenner—and grandmother to Kourtney Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Rob Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner—died on July 16 at the age of 91, Khloe shared the promise the matriarch had made to her grandchildren about their father, the late Robert Kardashian.
“I know Heaven welcomed you with open arms, surrounded by everyone who has been waiting to see you again,” Khloe captioned a July 19 Instagram post. “And I know you kept your promise, telling my daddy just how deeply we love him and how much we miss him.”
Robert died in 2003, when Khloe—the second youngest of his and Kris’ four children—was only 19.
But in addition to detailing MJ’s promise to pass a message to Robert, Khloe also reflected on the legacy her grandmother leaves behind.
“Thank you for showing us that life is meant to be celebrated, that laughter is healing, and that love is the greatest legacy we can leave behind,” the Good American co-founder wrote of MJ, who often appeared on the family’s reality series. “You lived so fully, so gracefully, and so beautifully.”
