Girl, 7, left heartbroken after nobody showed up to her birthday party before town steps in to save the day

A seven-year-old girl who was on the brink of heartbreak after every guest canceled on her birthday party was given an unforgettable surprise when kindhearted strangers stepped in to celebrate.

Chloe Blanden’s pizza party in Cody, Wyoming, was transformed into a joyful community affair after local residents rallied around her family when they learned no one was coming.

Just hours before, her mother Melanie ODonnell had put out a frantic call to action after every single one of her daughter’s friends dropped out of the party.

Melanie told the Daily Mail that after asking her neighbors on a Facebook group if any parents could attend, over 150 people replied within minutes and neighbors flocked to the pizzeria.

As of Saturday evening, the post has gone viral with over 1,000 replies and more than a dozen residents turned up bearing gifts.

Chloe and her family are newcomers to the town and her mom told Cowboy State Daily that Chloe has developmental struggles and has a difficult time making friends.

‘She hasn’t made a lot of friends yet, and I so badly wanted her to have a great day,’ Melanie added.

But the party turned out to be on the hottest day of the year and it wasn’t long before concerned parents began making their excuses, even after the family moved the location from a park to a local pizzeria.

‘Our decorations were out, I’d bought this big cake, and we were all sitting in the downstairs arcade center by ourselves,’ Melanie added.

That’s when Melanie decided to ask her neighbors for help by stopping by if they had children to celebrate Chloe’s birthday.

Melanie told the Daily Mail that about 15 people flocked to the pizzeria with gifts for Chloe.

‘The people who showed up were complete strangers, but they all acted as if they had always known each other,’ Melanie told Cowboy State Daily.

‘The children were so sweet and well behaved. Chloe had an amazing time.’

Melanie added that she was even sent money on Venmo for a birthday gift from a man in Montana.

The family had just moved to Cody at the start of the year following the death of Melanie’s mother and grandmother.

Earlier this week, Melanie shared a heartwarming post on Facebook celebrating the birthdays of her late family members.

‘So many birthdays this week. Mom’s 2nd birthday in heaven. You would have hit retirement age this year. Chloe’s 7th birthday. You had such a special birthday this year. Grandma Decker’s 1st birthday in heaven,’ she wrote.

‘All these amazing women who are a part of me and the young woman my daughter is becoming. All my strength has come from you all.’

Following the massive turnout for Chloe’s birthday, Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis shared the story online, writing, ‘So glad to see Cody rally around Chloe and help make her 7th birthday memorable. Happy birthday, Chloe!!’
