The “$20 million” figure being paraded in these claims on X itself likely comes from an entirely unrelated controversy. In 2025, multiple outlets reported that Kanye West risked losing an estimated $20 million concert deal in Tokyo following backlash surrounding his Grammy Awards appearance with Bianca Censori. That figure later became detached from its original context and was seemingly merged with ongoing discussions about FIFA’s 2026 entertainment plans. 

While one rumor fades, another chapter in Kanye West’s headline-filled career continues to unfold.

Kanye West faces another copyright lawsuit as FIFA builds toward 2026

Even as the World Cup rumor circulates online, Kanye West is dealing with a separate legal issue. According to Billboard, Bauer-Griffin has filed a federal lawsuit alleging that Kanye West, French Montana, producers Dem Jointz and BoogzDaBeast, along with Gamma and Vydia, used audio from West’s infamous 2013 confrontation with paparazzi in the 2024 track ‘Where They At’ without securing the necessary license.

The lawsuit claims the song opens with audio from the viral Beverly Hills incident in which West shouted at photographers outside a restaurant. Bauer-Griffin argues that the recording is protected by copyright and that the sample was used without authorization. The case adds to a growing list of sampling disputes involving West, who has faced numerous copyright lawsuits throughout his career, including recent litigation over music used on ‘Donda.’

Meanwhile, FIFA is moving ahead with preparations for the first-ever FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show at the 2026 tournament. FIFA President Gianni Infantino previously confirmed the event, while Global Citizen and Coldplay’s Chris Martin have been involved in helping shape the entertainment concept.
