Troubled NFL star Brandon Aiyuk sparks backlash after appearing to kick dog in controversial video

Estranged San Francisco 49ers star Brandon Aiyuk has ignited controversy once again after feeding his dogs raw chicken and appearing to kick one of them in a troubling video on social media.

Aiyuk, who went AWOL from the 49ers earlier in the offseason amid his desire to be traded, has sparked concern in recent weeks after firing his long-time agent and vowing to tank his own career in order to leave San Francisco.

In an explosive video at the end of June, the wide receiver also dared California police to come and get him following a warrant put out for his arrest.

Now he has caused a stir again after sharing some disturbing clips on his Instagram story, which seemingly capture him booting one of his two dogs in the head.

In the first video Aiyuk is seen feeding his pets raw chicken, which is considered unsafe for both dogs and their human owners due to the Salmonella and Campylobacter bacteria that exists in the uncooked meat.

After also giving them sardines covered in oil, the 28-year-old then lets one of his dogs lick the oil-covered bowl before trying to give it to the other one.

Yet when the first dog attempts to come back over and continue licking it, Aiyuk uses his foot to move him out of the way and can be heard saying: ‘Watch out n**** move!’

A few seconds later he then appears to kick the same dog in the head, this time for reasons which are unclear.

Aiyuk has come under fire online over the video, with one fan writing: ‘What is wrong with Brandon Aiyuk, that’s disgusting’.

Another put: ‘Poor doggie’.

While a third predicted: ‘Well that’ll do it!!! He is about to be banned from the league’.

However, the video has divided opinion on social media, with some users arguing that Aiyuk simply nudged his dog away from the other using his foot, which is perfectly normal when feeding them.

‘He moved him so he could put the plate down, yall stretching now,’ one claimed.

Another commented: ‘Aiyuk is a moron but come on…he’s just trying to move the other dog back so he can feed the other one.’

While a third wrote: ‘this is such an over exaggeration come on’.

Aiyuk has been lashing out on social media and was recently the subject of an arrest warrant over a December YouTube post purportedly showing him driving a Cadillac at over 100mph.

It was around that time the team placed him on the reserve list with a ‘left squad’ designation as head coach Kyle Shanahan admitted he had not seen him ‘in forever.’

He’s since fired his long-time agent, which he revealed in an online rant while daring police to arrest him.

Retired Super Bowl MVP and 49ers legend Steve Young recently expressed concern for Aiyuk during a celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe.

‘I worry for him,’ he said of the wideout, as quoted by the California Post. ‘I feel like I want to reach out and help. This is beyond football, it feels like.’

Aiyuk’s career was undeniably impressive from 2020, when he was a third-round pick by the Niners out of Arizona State, and 2024, when he signed a four-year, $120million extension only to tear his ACL and MCL.

He’d go on to miss the entire 2025 season and has since ordered the team to trade him, while demand for his services has yet to materialize.
