50 Cent’s Netflix documentary on Sean “Diddy” Combs has been one of the most talked-about music projects of the year, pulling together real-world scandal, hip-hop rivalry, and the kind of controversy that guarantees attention. The series arrived with plenty of noise around it, but the latest Emmy recognition has pushed the conversation even further.
Now that it has picked up three nominations, 50 Cent clearly has something to say to his critics.

In an Instagram post reacting to the news, 50 Cent pointed out the backlash he faced when the project was first announced and suggested the nominations speak for themselves.
“Everybody had something to say when I announced it… now the Emmys got something to say too 😂” he wrote, before adding, “You can’t argue with the work.”

He made those comments after Sean Combs: The Reckoning earned nominations for outstanding documentary or nonfiction series, outstanding directing for a documentary or nonfiction program, and outstanding picture editing for a nonfiction program. The recognition gives the series an extra layer of legitimacy after months of debate over its subject matter and how it was made.
There have also been ongoing rumors that 50 Cent made a huge payday from selling the Diddy documentary to Netflix, with some online chatter claiming the figure reached $50 million. That number has circulated widely, but it remains part of the broader speculation around the project rather than something officially confirmed. Still, the Emmy nominations have only fueled the perception that 50 Cent turned a highly divisive idea into a major cultural moment.
As the documentary keeps people talking, 50 Cent is already shifting focus to his next move on television.
Fightland expands 50 Cent’s reach into international crime drama
50 Cent’s Fightland is shaping up to be more than just another crime series, and the new STARZ trailer makes that clear. The show blends boxing, betrayal, prison time, and London underworld politics into one high-stakes story, giving the project a different feel from the American crime dramas he is best known for producing.

Duke Kilroy, played by Howard Charles, is at the center of it all. After losing his brother, serving time in a U.S. prison, and returning to London, he sets out to confront the powerful figure he believes ruined his life. Nicholas Pinnock plays Kingsley Marshall, a former promoter turned crime boss, which gives the series a classic revenge setup with a dangerous twist.
What makes Fightland especially notable is that it marks a new direction for 50 Cent’s G-Unit Film and Television, extending his TV footprint beyond the U.S. The series looks designed to appeal to both crime drama fans and viewers drawn to boxing stories, with STARZ clearly betting big on the combination.
