As the Great American State Fair winds down, what’s your favorite fair food? Have your say in the DC Insider poll

The Great American State Fair winds down this week after one presidential visit and several production hiccups and weather closures.

But while it’s ending, state fairs around the country are just getting started.

The politically relevant Iowa State Fair kicks off in mid-August.

The Daily Mail recently asked a handful of Republican lawmakers to divulge their favorite fair food.

Lauren Boebert of Colorado stated that ‘hot dogs, death dogs loaded with everything,’ were her favorite fun food fare.

In true Wisconsin fashion, Derrick Van Orden voted for cheese curds. Funnel cakes got a vote from John Rose of Tennessee, while North Carolinian Tim Moore backed the ham biscuit.

Gabe Evans of Colorado opted for sweet corn as well as turkey legs, which were also the pick of Tennessee’s Chuck Fleischmann.

The newest member of the House GOP, James Gallagher, who was sworn in on June 10th following a special election in California to fill the seat of former agriculture champion Doug LaMalfa, a congressman who passed away last year, endorsed corn dogs, as did North Dakota’s Julie Fedorchak.

Cotton candy was the second choice for both Fedorchak and Erin Houchin of Indiana.

Houchin showed her sweet tooth, plugging elephant ears as her top pick.

Now we’re posing the question to you.

Sound off below, and the results will be revealed in a future edition of the DC Insider newsletter.
