WWE superstar Jey Uso’s wife, Takecia Fatu, has filed for divorce after 12 years of marriage.
Takecia said the couple’s marriage is “irretrievably broken” in documents obtained by TMZ on Monday, July 6. Their date of marriage is listed as February 14, 2014.
Jey — real name Joseph Fatu — and Takecia share sons Jeyce, who was born in 2012, and Jaciyah, who is over 18.
Takecia requested primary physical custody of Jeyce, but said she is open to joint legal custody.
According to the documents, Takecia also requested exclusive use of the estranged couple’s Georgia home, attorney fees, and child and spousal support.
Jey, 40, seemingly responded to Takecia’s divorce filing Monday on social media.
“IM A GROWN ASS MAN,” he wrote via his Instagram Story. The post was accompanied by Ice Cube’s song “It Was a Good Day.”
Jey and Takecia mostly kept their relationship off social media, but he gushed about her support in the 2020 documentary Chronicle: Jey Uso.
“My wife is more than my tag partner, she’s my life partner,” he said. “I have so much love and respect for her in my heart. She catches the good and the bad, all the hurt and grumpiness of this business and life. But she gets me ready for this, every single week, and she has for the past 10 years. We’ve sacrificed together. All my success is her success, too. We’ve done this together.”
Jey also acknowledged the sacrifices it takes to reach the pro wrestling mountaintop — which can often come at the expense of those back home.
“There isn’t any other way to do it,” he said in the doc. “This business is your life. A lot of the young homies who’ve come in recently, they treat this like they signed up for a job at Enterprise Car Rental. They’ll see. This is a full-time grind. You need to put this before your family if you want it.”
He added, “This business will swallow you up. I missed 10 of my oldest son’s birthdays, I missed six birthdays of my younger son. The hotel life, the airport life, that’s where we live. I always thought this was physical, but I was wrong. It’s a mental game. A lot of blood has been shed to get here.”
Jey recently said that Jeyce has expressed interest in potentially following in his footsteps.
“He’s so into it,” Jey said on “The Club 250 Podcast” in February 2025. “I feel like if he wanted to, I would let him. It is hard, but he’s got to be all in.”
