President Trump released a new image showing the redesigned $100 bill – which includes a subtle new feature.
The commander-in-chief posted on Truth Social Friday that the new bill would feature his signature, marking the first time a sitting US president’s signature would appear on currency.
The bill would also carry Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s signature and is expected to enter circulation soon to mark the nation’s 250th birthday.
Founding Father Benjamin Franklin will still appear on the paper, with the design largely unchanged except for the two signatures added in the bottom left corner.
Bessent backed the idea, reposting Trump’s image and calling it ‘only appropriate’ for the currency to be issued on the anniversary of American independence.
The Treasury Secretary also expressed support on X, reposting the same photo and praising Trump’s accomplishments in office.
‘Under President Trump’s leadership, we are on a path toward unprecedented economic growth, lasting dollar dominance, and fiscal strength and stability,’ Bessent wrote on X.
‘There is no more powerful way to recognize the historic achievements of our great country and President Donald J Trump than US dollar bills bearing his signature, and it is only appropriate that this historic currency be issued at the Semiquincentennial.’

The caption echoed the message Bessent first shared in March, when the signature plan for the bill was initially announced.
Treasurer Brandon Beach also trumpeted the decision.
‘The president’s mark on history as the architect of America’s Golden Age economic revival is undeniable,’ he said.
‘Printing his signature on the American currency is not only appropriate, but also well-deserved.’
It’s unclear when the new $100 notes will enter circulation, though it usually takes a few weeks between printing by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and distribution by the Federal Reserve.
This isn’t the first push to feature the US president on currency, as Bessent has previously supported the idea of Trump’s face appearing on a new $250 bill.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent publicly praised the proposal back in May, calling it ‘fitting’ as the nation approached its 250th birthday.
‘I think it’s fitting. President Trump is the president during our 250th anniversary,’ Bessent told Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures.
The plan could only move forward if Congress amends a 159-year-old federal law that bans living people from appearing on US currency.
Bessent said at a press briefing Treasury officials are prepared for the $250 bill creation, but are awaiting the green light before moving forward.

‘It’s all up on Capitol Hill. At Treasury, we prepare things in advance. So we have prepared, in advance, that if the legislation is passed, but we will stick to the law,’ Bessent said at the briefing.
In the interview with Fox News, Bessent pointed to a historical precedent, noting that a commemorative coin was issued during Calvin Coolidge’s presidency.
‘Calvin Coolidge was president during the 150th anniversary. And there was a coin printed for him,’ Bessent said to the outlet.
‘And I think it’s a great celebratory note for a great president,’ he added.
