So much so, that the couple decided to have their wedding at Madison Square Garden in New York City July 3. And while fans have been speculating about the reason behind the venue choice, one theory is that the event space is actually an easter egg related to icon Elizabeth Taylor.

Swift has long praised the late movie star in the years prior to her big day, first referencing the Giant actress’ marriage to Richard Burton in “…Ready For It?” in 2017. Fast forward eight years later, and the Grammy winner would name a track after her for one of her songs on The Life of a Showgirl.

As for Taylor and her connection to MSG, in 1957, her then-husband Mike Todd threw an epic party to celebrate the first anniversary of his film Around the World in 80 Days. And the bash was one to remember as there were 18,000 guests, 12 elephants and a giant 14-foot-high cake, according to The New York Times, of which Taylor had the honor of slicing.
