A former Texas middle school teacher will spend over three decades behind bars after sexually abusing a 13-year-old student.
Adriana Rullan, 30, was sentenced to 33 years in prison this week after being found guilty of abusing the child, KGNS reported.
The former Gonzalez Middle School teacher was also sentenced to 10 years for indecency with a child by sexual contact and 13 years for an improper relationship between an educator and a student. The sentences will run concurrently.
According to the outlet, her victim took the stand during sentencing and told jurors that the abuse had cost him his friends, sense of self and almost his life.
The boy’s mother also spoke to the jury and said that the boy struggled with depression and anxiety as a result of Rullan’s behavior, the outlet reported.
She branded Rullan as being ‘sick and manipulative’, the outlet reported, while saying that she should not be allowed to do the same to another child.

Rullan had pleaded not guilty to all of the charges after initially being arrested back in December of 2023.
The verdict came after two days of testimony from six witnesses and exhibits which included photos, videos and text messages.
In a statement after her initial arrest, the school district said: ‘UISD has learned of the arrest of a former employee for various charges.
‘UISD promptly followed administrative and legal protocol and collaborated with UISD PD to investigate the serious allegations made against the former employee prior to the arrest.
‘The former employee was also placed on leave once UISD was made aware of the allegations.
‘Please note that UISD cannot provide public comment regarding the details or status of ongoing investigations.
‘Our community can rest assured that the individual is no longer employed by the District and that UISD takes swift action to investigate allegations of inappropriate conduct once received, as required by state and federal law.’
