Over the past few years, Netflix has been treating fans of sweeping European historical dramas well. In order to present another expansive historical drama to viewers throughout the world, Netflix is maintaining its extremely fruitful collaboration with French broadcaster TF1. Summer ’36 has officially started its global Netflix rollout after its eagerly awaited domestic airing. The limited series will be available in most territories starting on July 1. Masséna High School

The historic building of the High School was actually used to replicate the Jetée-Promenade Arena – a clever decision by the production team. The production team really brought back a forgotten historical piece of the French Riviera.

From High School to a Castle, the show really does have a diverse list of locations. 

Castle Hill Park (Colline du Château)

The show really captured the full glory of the Mediterranean coastline and the beauty of Nice’s landscape through Castle Hill Park. It looks unreal in real-life that reflects on the screen as well.

Hotel Negresco

For most of the series’ stylized bar scenes, the production team utilized the iconic Hotel Negresco. It is a historic luxury hotel situated along the famous Promenade des Anglais.

Both Julie de Bona and Sofia Essaïdi, who appeared in Women at War, are returning to head this new four-woman ensemble.
