Tragic note left behind at scene where Melbourne teen bled to death – as teenager is charged with murder

A handwritten note has been left at the scene where a teenager bled to death after allegedly being murdered in Melbourne.

Darweish Mohamed was allegedly ambushed by a group of up to 14 youths after being challenged to a one-on-one fight outside Craigieburn Community Hospital on Lygon Drive on Wednesday evening.

The 15-year-old was found face down on the pavement, bleeding heavily, with a hunting knife discovered nearby.

A 16-year-old was arrested on Thursday and charged with murder.

Flowers and a handwritten note have since been left at the scene in tribute to Darweish.

‘When will these postcode wars end,’ it read.

‘Another senseless tragic life taken far too soon. RIP dude. Love and thoughts are with your family and friends.’

Melbourne’s postcode wars have fuelled a wave of violent clashes between rival youth gangs across the city’s outer suburbs, with teenagers targeting rivals over territorial ‘postcode beefs’.

According to Melbourne true crime website Outlaw Media, Darweish had arranged to meet the alleged killer for a one-on-one fight.

‘Instead, he allegedly turned up with 13 other boys. The group then stabbed the 15-year-old to death,’ reporter Ryan Naumenko said.

‘What was meant to be a personal dispute ended in a frenzied knife attack. Multiple stab wounds. No chance for the victim against those numbers.’

One of Darweish’s friends said he had been at his house shortly before the alleged murder.

‘Can’t believe this, until we meet again,’ he wrote.

‘Crazy how fast things can happen.’

Mohamed was a student at Craigieburn’s Mount Ridley P–12 College.

‘The death of the young person in a violent incident (on Wednesday) night will be extremely distressing for the local communities involved,’ a Department of Education spokesman said.

According to reports, the 15-year-old expected to meet one rival, but was allegedly confronted by a much larger group before he was fatally stabbed
