Brits’ attitude towards the Greens has declined since Zack Polanski became leader, according to a poll.

YouGov research showed the party’s net favourability score has dropped to minus 16 – the lowest recorded to date. Some 52 per cent had a negative view.

That is a significant deterioration from the plus five rating seen shortly before Mr Polanski took charge in September last year. 

The numbers suggest that while the Greens have gained traction in local elections and by-elections, their appeal might have narrowed with increasing public profile.

Meanwhile, the polling gives an insight into the challenges faced by other parties.

Labour has the highest unfavourability level at 63 per cent, while just 28 per cent see the party positively.

But Reform has a strikingly high score for those who are ‘very’ negative, at 53 per cent.

In a potential worry for Nigel Farage, 58 per cent of those who voted for Reform in 2024 also have a favourable view of Restore Britain.

Mr Farage has been struggling to head off the challenge from Rupert Lowe’s new party on his Right.

The parties both racked up chunks of support in the recent Makerfield by-election, although it was comfortably won by Andy Burnham. 

The Greens are hoping to put in a strong showing in the Greater Manchester Mayoral contest to replace Mr Burnham – now poised to become PM.

However, Reform are also pouring considerable resources into the contest.
