A JetBlue Airways pilot struck a drone while landing at John F Kennedy airport this morning.

The plane, which departed from Las Vegas, hit the drone at about 3,000ft as it arrived in New York City, according to the FAA.

‘We collided with a drone back there in the turn as we were coming to ASALT [a navigation reference point], just wanted to pass to you,’ the pilot said in air traffic controller audio obtained by WABC.

The drone struck the plane right about the cockpit, but the pilot said they did not need help and could continue with the landing.

A post-flight inspection did not reveal any damage to the aircraft, the FAA said, adding that it will investigate the matter.

A representative for JetBlue told the Daily Mail the plane landed normally and all passengers disembarked safely.

‘The flight landed without incident, customers deplaned normally, and the plane was removed from service for a post-flight inspection, which found no damage or evidence of a collision,’ the spokesman said.

‘Safety is JetBlue’s first priority, and we will assist with any relevant investigations.’

It comes almost two months after a regional Delta Air Lines flight reported a small plane getting too close to the aircraft as it approached the busy NYC airport.

The air traffic controller warned the Delta pilot, who was flying the Endeavor Air jet, of a small person plane that was about 500 feet above them, according to WABC.
