Fan review: “It has tons of over-the-top drama! I enjoyed it while it was on, and I was around the same age as the characters. You’ve got the love triangles (squares? pentagons?!), the long lost siblings, the parent back from the dead (maybe?), the endless parties/charity events/balls for drama to occur at, the poor kids going to the rich school, marriages, divorces, cheating, substance abuse, depression, illness (fake illness!?), partying in the Hamptons, and on top of all that, you have Gossip Girl (voiced by Kristen Bell), and your classmates watching your every move and reporting it on the Gossip Girl website. I’m sure there are storylines that were problematic at the time and would be perceived as even more offensive now. Chuck Bass, in general, was a problematic guy. Gossip Girl stands out for its New York setting and the glamour of most of the characters being rich.” —u/TinaLove85
