Desperate search launched for female tourist, 26, last seen in remote Nevada mountain town

Fears are mounting as an Australian family desperately searches for their missing 26-year-old daughter who was last seen on vacation in Nevada.

Sally Grace Contarino was traveling in the US this summer, visiting popular tourist spots including Las Vegas, Mount Charleston, and SoCal.

But her relatives have said they lost communication with her on June 20 and haven’t heard from her since.

Contarino disappeared close to Mount Charleston after checking out of her hostel, news.com.au reported.

Surveillance video from a nearby restaurant, Timbers Bar & Grill, showed the young traveler walking down the street the day before she vanished, wearing dark-colored clothing and monochrome Converse shoes.

The young traveler left the dining spot just before 10.30pm on June 19 and made her way back to the hostel, where she had been staying for five days.

Contarino returned to Bungalows Hostel on South Las Vegas Boulevard in the early hours of June 20, per the outlet.

Later that day, the 26-year-old remotely checked out of the hostel, with a flight already booked back home to Australia.

Contarino had also purchased a Greyhound bus ticket from Las Vegas to Los Angeles to catch her flight home, but records obtained by the outlet revealed the ticket was never scanned.

Timbers Bar & Grill manager Jocelyn Zeigler-Arthur told the outlet the area Contarino was staying in is a ‘terrible area’ for a young female solo traveler.

‘It is not great for a girl alone,’ Zeigler-Arthur said. The bartender even added that Contarino was ‘quiet’ but seemed ‘happy.’

The 26-year-old had also spent part of her trip in the secluded mountainous town of Mount Charleston, east of the bustling Las Vegas.

According to the Las Vegas Metro Police Department, Contarino has brown eyes and brown hair, with no other identifying details released.

The Australian native has frequently traveled to America, according to The Herald Sun.

In her past trips, she visited Palm Springs, California, and Las Vegas, Nevada, where she enjoyed the desert landscapes, culture, and wildlife.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has opened a missing persons case and is seeking public assistance to locate her.

Local hospitals have also been alerted and asked to review records in case she has been admitted.
