Rod Stewart paused his concert to use an oxygen tank after nearly fainting onstage.

TMZ reported that while the British singer-songwriter, 81, was performing at a concert at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre in West Valley City, Utah, on Friday, June 19, he could be seen looking unwell and doubling over in pain before using an oxygen tank to assist his breathing backstage.

Video obtained by the outlet showed Stewart leaning over during the concert before staff brought out the oxygen tank.

The musician later addressed the crowd, telling audience members that he nearly fainted while also cracking a few lighthearted jokes. Stewart finished the performance sitting in a chair.

Representatives for Stewart did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

Earlier this month, the “Maggie May” singer announced that a few of his residency performances at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas would be rescheduled because his doctor “ordered a bit more rest” as he recovered from the flu.

Less than a week later, Stewart canceled four shows and postponed two more in Nevada and California that were scheduled as part of his One Last Time Tour.

“So sorry, my friends. I'm devastated and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience to my fans,” he wrote on Instagram. “I'll be back on stage and we'll see you soon – Sir Rod💔.”

The musician also drew some criticism last weekend after he announced that he would be canceling his concert in California due to health reasons and then made an appearance at a Scotland World Cup game in Boston just hours later.

Stewart's team shared a statement on his Instagram Stories, stating that “on the advice of his doctors and following a diagnosis of an acute upper respiratory infection that has resulted in laryngitis, he is unable to take the stage this evening” — despite having already traveled to the venue.

Stewart later followed up on the announcement, which was made less than an hour before the show was scheduled to start, by adding, “Following treatment, I'm feeling much better, but my voice is not. I'm very disappointed and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience to my fans. I did everything I could to make the show happen tonight.”

Stewart has several shows lined up across the U.S. throughout July and August as part of his One Last Time Tour. The tour's final show is scheduled to take place on Aug. 15 in St. Louis.

Last year, Stewart performed at the 2025 American Music Awards, where he was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
