Former American Idol judge Simon Cowell and his fiancée, Lauren Silverman, had a difficult start to their relationship.
The pair first met and became friends during a vacation in Barbados in 2004. However, it wasn’t until 2012 when they sparked romance rumors. Their relationship ultimately came to light in 2013, when Us Weekly exclusively revealed that Cowell and Silverman were expecting their first baby. At the time, Lauren was still married to businessman Andrew Silverman.
“It was the end of my marriage, obviously,” Lauren said during a June 2026 episode of Giovanna Fletcher’s “Happy Mum” podcast. “Looking back on that time, it was one of the hardest times of my life.”
Lauren and Andrew, who tied the knot in 2003, ultimately divorced shortly after the baby news. Meanwhile, Lauren and Cowell welcomed son Eric in 2014. The couple got engaged in 2021.

Who Is Lauren Silverman?
Lauren was born in New York in 1977 to dad Steven and mom Carole. She moved to Miami as a child but now lives primarily in England with Cowell. The pair also share a home in Malibu.
Lauren is known as a socialite and entrepreneur. She appeared alongside her fiancé in his Netflix reality show Simon Cowell: The Next Act in 2025.

Do I wish it had happened a different way and that I could go back and change certain things? Of course I do. I knew that Simon was the person that I wanted to spend my life with. However we got there and however it happened, I just believe that it was meant to be.”
Lauren added, “As much as I wish I could go back and take away the hurt and take away the pain that that caused for my ex-husband and for Adam and for my family and for various people, it happened. The emotions were intense and they were wide-ranging.”

Cowell proposed to Lauren in Barbados in 2021, but they have yet to tie the knot. However, she is already going by the America’s Got Talent judge’s last name.
“Look, I am Mrs. Cowell,” she told The Daily Mail in 2025. “I have created a life with Simon, we have a child together, we have a solid relationship. This is more about the unity of our family and us having the same name. When we discussed it, Simon said, ‘Yeah, I would really like you to change your name.’ It wasn’t a dramatic statement, it was just: ‘This is who I am, and this is who we are.’”
