Controversial Frenchman Corentin Moutet has done it again, behaving ‘appallingly’ as he persistently swore in his post-match on-court interview at the HSBC Championships – one year on from appearing to call the umpire a ‘f****** t***’ here at Queen’s Club.
The 27-year-old had beaten fellow Frenchman Giovanni Mpetchi Perricard in a match that took place over two days due to bad light. On-court interviewer Jenny Drummond asked him about his opponent’s bullet serves and Moutet replied: ‘That’s so frustrating. I had match point, on the second serve and then he hits me 142(mph) I was like f***…’
Drummond interjected to say: ‘No f-bombs please.’
Moutet replied: ‘F***, f***, f***.’
Drummond: ‘No, no, no. Right, Corentin, I’m going to ask you one more question.
‘Apologies, everyone, for the language there. I’m going to ask you one more question. So please keep it clean, OK?

Corentin Moutet swore seven times during his post-match interview at Queen’s on Monday

He repeatedly said ‘f***’ when reflecting on his victory over Giovanni Mpetchi Perricard
‘You on the grass last week, unfortunately, it didn’t go your way. What’s it like to get your first victory?’
‘F**. F*. F**’, responded Moutet again – live on the BBC.
Drummond was forced to cut the interview short, saying: ‘OK, Corentin, we need to improve that for the next round. Apologies, everyone. Corentin Moutet.’
Clare Balding, who is presenting Queen’s this week, was forced to apologise to viewers: ‘And just to repeat those apologies for everyone watching BBC Two and iPlayer.
‘Corentin Moutet living up to his bad-boy image. Chaos makes the muse is what he wrote on the camera screen there. It’s a tattoo that he has as well. And, yep, chaos is what he can create.’
Annabel Croft, as a pundit alongside Balding, condemned the Frenchman’s ‘appalling’ behaviour.
The HSBC Championships posted a video of the interview on Instagram and Moutet posted in the comments: ‘I was just joking I hope you guys didn’t get offended. Thanks for the love.’
It is very far from the first time Moutet has disgraced himself on court. In this very tournament last year he got into a blazing row with the umpire and appeared to call him a ‘f****** t***.’
In 2022 he said ‘f*** you’ to an umpire.
He has twice almost come to blows with opponents. Also in 2022, he and Adrian Andreev began pushing each other in an incident which contributed to his being stripped of funding by the French Tennis Federation. Then in March of last year he got into a row with Alexander Bublik and asked him: ‘Do you want to fight?’
After last year’s incident and now this, one wonders what the eccentric Frenchman has planned for the Queen’s Club next year.
