A dog in Colorado is safely back on dry land after an unexpected adventure in a golf course pond.
Luna, a brown-and-white pooch, became trapped in the deep water of a pond on the Hyland Hills Golf Course in Westminster on May 19, per a spokesperson from the Westminster Police Department (WPD) as well as police bodycam footage of the rescue shared to Facebook by WPD.
Officers responded to a call about the dog that morning, and WPD Animal Management Officer Wood and a colleague arrived on the scene to assist.
There, they found Luna soaking wet and clinging to the side of the pond.

“That's a good girl,” Officer Wood can be heard saying in the video as she and a colleague work to get the dog out of the water.
The officers used a towel and leash to pull Luna to safety while continuing to reassure her with pats and kind words.
A spokesperson for WPD told PEOPLE that Luna's family had been actively looking for her when police found her in the pond, and that she had escaped through a gate in their yard, which was fairly close to the golf course.
