Over the course of its tumultuous three-season run, Euphoria boasted one of the most star-studded young cast ensembles of any TV show ever. And you probably don’t even need to have watched the show to have heard about the various behind-the-scenes feud rumors.
To list a few, we first have the reports that the four-year delay between Seasons 2 and 3 was, in part, due to an alleged rift between the show’s creator, Sam Levinson, and its star, Zendaya, who also served as an executive producer on the first two seasons.
And then we also have the more recent rumors of a fallout between Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney.
For what it’s worth, the Zendaya and Sydney feud rumors don’t have a huge amount of weight to them. But people certainly raised eyebrows at a video of Zendaya seemingly avoiding Sydney on the red carpet at the premiere of Euphoria Season 3 back in April. Zendaya was not photographed with any of her costars at the event.
Sydney was then accused of fueling the feud rumors earlier this month after Zendaya was noticeably absent from her behind-the-scenes photo roundup for Season 3.
Zendaya, being notoriously private, has never addressed any speculation about her relationships with her various Euphoria colleagues. However, Sydney has just weighed in on the topic.
During a new interview with Vanity Fair, the Anyone But You star was asked about the rumored “cast drama,” which she quickly brushed off, saying: “Well, I mean, we all grew up together on this show, so it’s honestly crazy to watch how much social media and the press spin things.”
She also responded to speculation that cast scheduling contributed to the Season 3 delay. “I was in first position to HBO. So the moment they say, ‘Hey, this is the first day of filming,’ I’m legally not allowed to do anything else. So my schedule doesn’t affect the show,” she said, confirming that her booked-and-busy costars were very much in the same position with the network. “It wasn’t like any of our schedules were holding it up,” she added.
