Pete Davidson is surprised by Elsie Hewitt’s claims that she is caring for their baby solo following their split.
“Pete is fully financially supporting the child and Elsie,” a source exclusively tells Us Weekly. “He’s very present in the baby’s life. He wants nothing but the best for Elsie and he shoulders all of the financial costs, including the costs for Elsie, her rent and her health insurance. Elsie’s posts caught everyone around them off guard because they are simply not true.”
The source revealed Davidson’s reaction two days after Hewitt vented via social media that she’s raising their baby “on my own.”
Hewitt, 30, took to TikTok on Saturday, May 16, to address paparazzi photos that showed her on a walk with her and Davidson’s daughter, Scottie, the day before. “Yeah, yeah, I know. I’m exhausted, OK?” Hewitt said of the pics. “I should’ve left the house looking nicer yesterday. I should’ve known that that was going to happen.”
Hewitt continued in her video, “That’s not what I’m thinking about right now, because I have a baby to take care of. And I also have to work and make money, and I’m doing it on my own, which is hard.”
The photos, which were published by TMZ on Friday, May 15, showed Hewitt wearing an oversized gray zip-up hoodie with sunglasses on her head and her hair pulled back as she pushed her daughter’s stroller in New York City.

In the comments section, a fan asked Hewitt to clarify if she meant that she would be taking care of finances for Scottie “alone.”
“I am :),” Hewitt reportedly wrote back. Her response appears to have since been deleted.
Us reached out to reps for Hewitt and Davidson for comment.
Hewitt’s video comes shortly after Us confirmed that she and Davidson, 32, had split after one year of dating.
“They are still sorting things out as it pertains to their split,” a source close to the exes exclusively told Us. “They tried to make it work but there were different stressors, including having a baby together as two people who didn’t yet know each other that well. They are both trying to make it work and have made accommodations in their schedules for the baby.”
The insider added that it’s “very unlikely” that Hewitt and Davidson will reconcile “romantically.”
“They are still rooting for each other but are each going their own ways, outside of working to coparent and focusing on their baby,” the source added.
Hewitt and Davidson were first romantically linked in March 2025. That July, the pair announced that they were expecting their first baby. They welcomed Scottie — who is named after Davidson’s dad, a firefighter who died while responding to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks — in December 2025.
“The best thing I’ve been telling people is [that Scottie is] the biggest gift,” Davidson exclusively told Us one month after their daughter’s birth. “Nothing else matters as much or intensely, like career, activities, hanging out with people [or] what do people think of me, that sort of s***. I still want to do cool stuff, but it’s like, ‘Well, how long do I have to be away?’ Or ‘Is this worth being away?’”
