The 9 Most Comfy Shoes to Buy for Under $100, According to Podiatrists — Shop Toms, Clarks, and More

Prices start at just $26

No offense to boots, but once the weather warms up, I start reaching for shoes that feel lighter and more comfortable for everyday wear.

This summer, I’m focusing on footwear that’ll work for vacations to Las Vegas and Boston, walks through my West Hollywood neighborhood, and dinners with friends.  And since I broke my ankle 10 years ago, I want styles that are both supportive and stylish. That’s why I turned to three podiatrists, Dr. Madeline Walkner, Dr. Nicole G. Freels, and Dr. Michelle Morse, for their recommendations on comfortable summer shoes.

Their picks from brands like Naturalizer, Cole Haan, Aerosoles, Clarks, and Toms are available on Amazon. The best part? They’re all under $100.

Dr. Morse loves these faux wood clogs as much for their stylish appeal as for their supportive features. She especially appreciates the “proper cushioning” and “supportive platform,” as well as the “stable soles that significantly reduce pressure on the heel and ball of the foot.”

If you can’t give up heels, but still want to be comfortable, Dr. Walkner recommends this pair with “thick double forefoot straps” and a “wider, more stable heel for better balance.” She adds that they’re perfect for “events or long dinners where standing and walking are involved.”

Ever since Julianne Hough wore loafer mules, I’ve wanted a pair, too. Dr. Morse calls these “effortlessly wearable with jeans, dresses, or trousers.” Additionally, they’re designed with cushioned footbeds and stable midsoles, so they’re a “smart, stylish spring option that respects our biomechanics without compromising fashion,” she adds.

These suede loafers offer a “versatile” option for “a variety of outfits,” says Dr. Freels, who appreciates the memory foam insoles and lightweight design. She also points out the thicker soles, which make them “particularly comfortable” for people with “higher arches.”

While Dr. Morse technically recommends sandals with heel straps over flip-flops, she does concede that the latter is a spring and summer staple. “Archies is a healthy choice — they offer an ergonomic design with arch support, contoured heels, and cushion to improve stability and comfort,” she says. Choose from 12 colors and sizes 5 to 16.

Thanks to adjustable ankle straps that offer “rear foot support” and keep you “locked into position,” these wedge sandals are one of Dr. Freels’ top picks for comfortable summer shoes. She also approves of the cushioned insoles that provide “all-day comfort.”

“These slingback pumps offer more cushioning and stability than a traditional pump,” says Dr. Walkner, adding that the “block heels” make the shoes “more stable.” They’re available in 11 colors like black, red, and metallic silver.

If you’re looking for “everyday loafers for work or walking without sacrificing comfort,” Dr. Walkner recommends this pair with built-in arch support and structured soles that “provide stability for all-day wear.” They come in black, navy, or brown, plus sizes 5 to 12, with wide widths available.

Dr. Freels is a fan of these slip-on platform shoes, especially because the elastic side gores “are really convenient for those with wider feet or some type of bunion.” Plus, the lace embroidery offers “elegance” that you can “wear with dresses or jeans.”
